(CHADWICK, IL) - Darren Miller
drove his Hawkeye Trucking, Graphic Arts Express, McLaughlin Freight
Services, Ideal Ready Mix Ford Taurus from the tail of the field to the
front in two separate WDRL events last weekend.
Beginning Friday night at
Knoxville (IA) Raceway, Miller lined up in 20th position for
the feature event after encountering power steering problems during his
heat race. Quickly moving
to the front at the drop of the green, Miller advanced to 10th
by the third lap and passed pole sitter Chad Simpson for the lead a
handful of laps later. However,
contact with Simpson after the pass forced Miller into the outer wall
where the 32D received major damage to the right rear of the car,
causing Miller to retire to a 21st place finish.
Saturday night at Freeport (IL)
Raceway Park, Miller lined up on the outside front row for the feature
event after 2nd place finishes in both his PolyDome Qualifier
and the Iowa-Illinois Taylor Insulation Pole Dash.
Miller found himself driving from the tail of the field again
after a lap one contact with pole sitter John Kaanta flattened his left
rear tire. Methodically
advancing through the field throughout the race, Miller eventually
finished 3rd in the 40 lap event.
The 32D team will compete next
weekend, May 4th & 5th, in the “3rd
Annual 99” held at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway, Calvert City KY.
