"The
Thriller" Wraps Up Weekend With Win At West Liberty
May 31, 2005
(CHADWICK, IL) – Darren “The Thriller” Miller wrapped up the Memorial Day
weekend Monday night with a win in WDRL action at the West Liberty (IA)
Speedway. Miller started
the feature from the pole position after finishing 2nd
in his qualifying race and winning the pole dash.
The driver of the Seubert Calf Ranches/ Pro Power Racing/ Ideal
Ready Mix/ Out-Pace Racing Products Ford Taurus powered to an early lead
over outside front row starter Steve Francis and never looked back,
leading all 50 laps.
The West Liberty win helped
offset a frustrating start to the long weekend.
Competing at the “Show-Me 100” in West Plains (MO) Friday and
Saturday, Miller was sidelined with front end damage on the first lap of
his heat race when contact was made with a spinning car that blocked the
track. After the 32D team
completed extensive repairs, Darren
advanced from his 22nd place starting position to an 8th
place finish in the “B-Main”, but was unable to reach the 2nd
position required for transfer to the main event.
Sunday found the team at I-80
Speedway in Greenwood (NE) for their “Alphabet Soup Race”, only to
have the race cancelled due to questionable weather conditions. Unable
to return to Dubuque (IA) Speedway in time for their “Late Model
Shootout”, the team returned to their shop and began preparations for
the West Liberty event.
The team will compete in WOO Late Model action next at the Farley (IA) Speedway Wednesday,
June 1st and at the Eagle (NE) Raceway Friday June 3rd.
Saturday June 4th will find Darren returning to
Freeport (IL) Raceway Park for more WDRL action.
