Superior
and Cedar Lake Next For Darren Miller
June 15, 2005
(CHADWICK, IL) – Darren Miller and the 32D team
will be heading to Superior (WI) Speedway for WDRL action Thursday night
June 16th, and then on to the “7th Annual
Masters” Friday and Saturday, June 17th –18th
at Cedar Lake Speedway, New Richmond (WI).
The Milledgeville (IL) driver
competed in a WDRL event Tuesday night June 14th at Freeport
(IL) Raceway Park, where he finished 2nd behind Steve Francis
in the Moring Motorsports #15. Starting
the Seubert Calf Ranches/Pro Power Racing/ Ideal Ready Mix/ Out Pace
Racing Products Ford Taurus from the 11th
position after a 4th
place qualifying race finish, Miller methodically worked his way forward
to the second position but was unable to pass the “Kentucky
Colonel”. Both cars
encountered problems during the race as Francis broke a brake caliper
and lost his brakes on the last lap while Miller was hampered with a
loose plug wire throughout much of the event.
Miller, who donated half of his
winnings from the event to the family of Brent Slocum, a fellow racer
who lost his life in a pit accident at 34 Raceway, Burling (IA) Saturday
June 11th, also helped collect additional donations
throughout the night. “I talked with and raced with Brent many times
at Burlington and other tracks over the last several years”, Darren
said when asked for his thoughts. “This
was just a tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family
and friends.”
