Darren Miller Completes
Successful Four Night Wisconsin Swing
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
June 19, 2006
(CHADWICK, IL) -
Darren Miller and the 32D team returned to the their race shop in
Chadwick (IL) yesterday after a successful four race swing through
Wisconsin last week. The
“Thriller” chalked up 1st,
2nd, and 5th place finishes in three
completed races and is currently qualified for the outside front row of
Cedar Lake Speedway’s re-scheduled night one of Masters,
WDRL Pole Dash.
The week began on a high note
Wednesday night, June 14th as Miller utilized a lap 17
re-start to move past Earl Pearson Jr. for the lead at Red Cedar
Speedway, Menomonie (WI). Miller
and Pearson charged through the field while maneuvering through lap
traffic over the final thirty-three laps with Miller taking the checkers
and the $5,000 WDRL win.
Thursday, June 15th,
found Miller competing at Superior Speedway, Superior (WI).where he
advanced from his ninth place starting position to finish a strong 2nd
in the 50 lap caution free WDRL event.
Racing Friday night, June 16th,
during night one of Cedar Lake Speedway’s “Masters”, Miller was
scheduled for the front row outside starting position in the
Iowa/Illinois Taylor Insulation Pole Dash when rain ended the nights
racing action. The race has
been re-scheduled for Thursday August 3rd, the night before
Cedar Lake’s $50,000 to win “USA Nationals”.
Saturday night, June 17th,
Miller competed in night two of the Lucas Oil/WDRL co-sanctioned Cedar
Lake Speedway’s “Masters” After
winning his heat race and drawing a number two starting position, Miller
charged into the lead at the drop of the green flag in the feature event
and led the first 15 laps before being passed by eventual race winner
Ear Pearson Jr. Miller continued to race with Pearson over the next several
laps before a successful charge to
re-take the lead was negated by a caution.
Hampered by a poor performing tire on the re-start, Miller went
on to finish fifth behind Jimmy Mars, Donnie Moran, Brian Birkhofer, and
race winner Earl Pearson Jr. The
race was televised by SPEED CHANNEL with an air-date to be announced
later.
“We’re
pretty happy overall with our week” said Miller after the races,
“Obviously we’re happy with the results from Wednesday and Thursday night.
We had a great car tonight but I lost the heat in the right rear
during that caution and it glazed over.
When I gassed it up before the re-start I knew I was in trouble.
When you’re running with guys like Earl Pearson Jr., Brian
Birkhofer, Donnie Moran and Jimmy Mars, you’ve got to have everything
right on. The track was in great condition, these guys here always see
to that. We’re happy for a top five finish and we’ll head for home
and probably hit a few Summernationals
and WDRL races over the next few weeks.”
