Darren Miller Captures
“Bluegrass Nationals” / ”Commonwealth Cup 50”
Bonus Money
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
October 30, 2005
(CHADWICK, IL) - Darren "The Thriller" Miller captured the $
3,000 bonus awarded to the highest average finisher at the
"Bluegrass Nationals" and "Commonwealth Cup 50"
events held last weekend at the Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway, Calvert
City (KY). Miller was awarded the bonus after winning the
"Bluegrass Nationals" Friday night (10/28) and finishing in
6th place in the "Commonwealth Cup 50" Saturday night
(10/29).
Miller
began the weekend Friday night by winning his heat race and then quickly
moving into the lead from his fourth place starting position at the
start of the $10,000 to win feature event. "The Thriller"
would go on to hold off challenges from 2nd place runner Earl Pearson
Jr. and took the checkered flag with Pearson in 2nd and Don O'Neal in
3rd.
Miller's
solid performance continued Saturday night as the Milledgeville (IL)
driver set 4th fast time and finished 2nd in his heat. Lining up 9th in
the feature event, Miller was again on the move early, advancing to 5th
before suffering a flat right rear tire on lap 11. After replacing the
tire and restarting at the rear of the field the hard charging Miller
advanced to finish in 6th place at the end of the 50 lap, $10,000 to win
NARA feature.
"We
had a great setup on the car this weekend" Miller said when asked
early Sunday morning. "I would've really liked to have raced for
the win last night also, but the flat right rear took us out of
contention. We actually had three flat tires last night. We had a flat
right rear and a broken radiator after our heat race. Then we lost the
right rear tire in the feature, and we had a flat left rear tire after
the feature at the trailer. I guess when you look at all that happened
over the weekend we're happy for the results we achieved. The car was
great, we're happy for Friday nights win and to have won the bonus, and
we moved up a couple of spots in the NARA final points."
